Head of Development - Montreal

Part-Time or Full-Time

Reporting to the Montreal Director of Chai Lifeline Canada, the Head of Development – Montreal interfaces with Chai Lifeline Canada donors, friends, staff and lay leaders and works closely with the Director of Development in the execution and administration of all aspects of Chai Lifeline Canada’s major, annual and planned giving activities.  For over 16 years, Chai Lifeline Canada has been providing support services and programs to children and families who are living with chronic or life-threatening pediatric illness.  At Chai Lifeline Canada, you will be part of a wonderful team that is dedicated to living our core values, leading with integrity and mutual respect for one-another. Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Proactively connect with and develop new and existing donors to meet fundraising goals
  • Pursue and succeed in scheduling face-to-face conversations and solicitations
  • Write proposals and reports for grants and foundations
  • Update, maintain, and manage donor databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Oversee collection process
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in carrying out fundraising activities
  • Implement our overall fundraising plan in the Greater Montreal region and develop strategies specific to it
  • Manage and lead event and peer-to-peer events, with a focus on recruitment and fundraising
  • Adhere to Chai Lifeline’s policies and procedures to ensure all gifts are received and handled appropriately including timely issuing of tax receipts and acknowledgment to donors
  • Grow volunteer engagement in our fundraising initiatives and contribute to developing new lay leaders in collaboration with the Montreal Director and the Board of Directors.
Successful candidates for this position will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Fundraising for non-for-profit organizations, with demonstrated success in developing strategies and cultivating, soliciting and stewarding successively larger gifts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Outgoing, charismatic, driven to help others and a strong work ethic
  • Excel at maintaining relationships with volunteers and donors
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience leading program development and implementation
  • Ability to work independently but also as a team player
  • Ability to work with culturally and religiously diverse volunteers
  • Experience with the Montreal Jewish philanthropic community is a strong asset
  • Has a valid driver’s license and access to a car for all work purposes.
