When a child is born or diagnosed with a serious illness, the entire family is affected. Families are torn apart as one parent moves into the hospital to be with the sick child. Siblings suffer greatly when their daily routines are disrupted or when their parents’ attention is forced to focus on the high demands of the sick child. Chai Lifeline currently provides support to more than 400 Canadian families, with two-dozen programs and services that offer whatever is needed. Financial support for medical expenses, counseling for each member of the family, Big Brothers and Big Sisters who bring an extra measure of adult attention to children’s lives, tutoring for children who miss school for extended periods of time, family retreats, special sibling programs, and two extraordinary summer camp programs help families retain a sense of normalcy while fighting even the most life threatening pediatric diseases.

Our mission is to fight illness with love, brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families, and help restore the magic of childhood to young children and teenagers whose lives have been inexorably altered by life-threatening illness through our many programs and services.
