Chai Lifeline Canada is looking for an enthusiastic Camp Director for Chai Lifeline Canada’s summer camp- Camp Lifeline!

Camp Lifeline is designed to give children suffering from lifelong/chronic illness, as well as children whose family members are suffering from illness,   a chance to enjoy an exciting summer day camp experience without feeling any  limitations. Our Camp Director, in collaboration with our office staff, will plan three-weeks of  Trip Camp, an exciting and fun filled three weeks of day camp.  The Camp Director will recruit staff, organize transportation, book trips  and be apt at creating the magical camp lifeline spirit that we’re so proud of.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Oversee the following: 

  • Hiring camp staff, including activity specialists, camp counselors and nurses

  • Plan daily camp activities and creating activity schedule

  • Ensure safe practices, adequate training  and healthy camp environment is provided

  • Liaise with Family Services team  to discuss needs of campers

  • Order camp equipment and supplies 

  • Ensure adequate insurance is in place 

  • Order meals, transportation logistics, as well as ensuring the wellbeing of the campers

  • Modifying activities for campers when needed 

  • Keep records and documenting processes 

  • Arrange and run staff meetings 

  • Lead camp activities as needed 

  • Set a good example for all the staff 

  • Creating daily/weekly newsletter to send out to parents 

  • Discuss and implement budgeting with Director of Operations

Requirements 

  • Must be an enthusiastic, energetic and fun-loving role model 

  • Experience in planning and developing camp curricula, as well as modifying activities when required 

  • Experience working in a supervisory role in a camp environment

  • Ability to hire, train, and oversee camp employees, as well as ensuring the campers’ wellbeing

  • Extensive experience in working with children 

  • Ability to manage budgets and monitor expenses 

  • In-depth knowledge of activity-related safety regulations, as well as health and sanitation requirements 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills 

  • Strong communicator and not shy to speak with colleagues, campers and parents on a daily basis

  • Must understand that this is not a “9-5” job and there will be times when you will need to put in evenings and weekend hours 

  • Has access to a car and can drive
