Coordinator of Volunteer and Support Services – full time position

Reporting directly to the Regional Director of Montreal, the Coordinator of Volunteers and Support Services is responsible for volunteer recruitment, engagement, and managing volunteer support services. The Coordinator is also responsible for organizing some programs, assisting with events, and various administrative support. This role is for you if you’re motivated, if you can oversee a project from start to finish, and if you’re passionate about the importance of voluntary work. Every day will bring new challenges, learning experiences and opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the children and families that we support.

 

For almost 18- years, Chai Lifeline Canada has been providing services and programs to children and families who are affected by life-threatening or life-altering physical illness. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Organizing volunteers for services and events, such as big-sibling, volunteer drivers, respite, community cooks, wellness package deliveries, tutoring, family events etc.

  • Revise and execute our volunteer recruitment strategy and promotion (in schools, online etc).

  • Matching volunteers with clients, and monitoring their activity.

  • Training, screening and guidance of volunteers, as well as updating training materials and policies.

  • Developing ideas for fun volunteer led activities.

  • Engaging volunteers and developing strong relationships with the volunteers.

  • Recruiting volunteers for peer-to-peer fundraisers.

  • Coordinating volunteer recognition and appreciation such as swag, appreciation events, online

    recognition etc..

  • Program record keeping, evaluation and tracking of performance metrics.

  • Overseeing budgets for volunteer services and related events.

  • Quality assurance with clients and troubleshooting.

  • Coordinating some programs from start to finish, such as Shining Stars and Birthday-In-A-Box.

  • Collaborate with family services and events teams.

  • Manage our micro-day camp in the summer, ideally with hired camp coordinator(s).

  • Assist with social media posts.

  • Stay up to date on volunteer trends in the community.

  • Vendor communication.

Personal traits and professional qualifications:

  • Passion for the work of Chai Lifeline.

  • Relevant work or community experience.

  • Fluent in English and solid conversational French. Good writing skills in English.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel) and adept at social media (Facebook, Instagram etc).

  • Familiarity with the overall Montreal Jewish community and Jewish observance.

  • Has existing personal network to approach for volunteer support.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Highly organized, has good time management skills, and is a self-starter.

  • Competent communicator.

  • Access to a car and holds a driver’s license.

  • A university degree is not required although it is considered a valued asset.
