Team Alt 2017 from Left to Right: Sonya Kaplan, Mordechai Rothman, Executive Director of Chai Lifeline Canada, Eli Leibowitz, Team Captain, Gitta Leibowitz, Miriam Leibowitz, Aviva Leibowitz and Yona Leibowitz

As Team Lifeline Canada’s Program Manager it so humbling for me to be able to share in the personal journey that many of our runners go through during their 4-6 month training process. From phone calls, to emails and texts, I am fortunate to be able to help in any way or form.  I would consider my Team Lifeline Canada family such wonderful close friends and am inspired by you all.

Now that it’s January, the time has come. For some of our Team Lifeline member’s new runners and Alumni, it’s been almost 8 months since they initially signed up. Feeling inspired by the 2017 members they too decided they wanted in on this experience, all with one common goal; to raise money for Chai Lifeline.

I am super excited that the Team Lifeline Miami Marathon is less than 2 weeks away! On January 28, 2018, 120 of our Team Lifeline Canada runners and walkers will be escaping the Canadian winter cold and heading down to Miami Beach. As part of the weekend experience each runner will be staying at the Eden Roc Resort Hotel. Each year, the itinerary changes and promises to be another inspiring and uplifting weekend.   This year is going to be an epic year with motivational speaker Charlie Harary and over 1,000 Chai Lifeline family and friends in attendance. The room will shake and be buzzing with energy!

This year we have been incredibly fortunate to have a superstar team of individuals that have helped make it happen. The Montreal runners are killing it! Under the guidance of Chevy Freund and Zack Steinlauf, their team has grown to 55 runners with Team Hope and #sweatforthecause climbing up the ladder!

In Toronto, I am so elated to announce that the top three Chai Club Fundraisers are our very own, Ron Nussbaum, Daniel Gryfe and DZ Silver. There is no stopping these guys! We also have some great teams working incredibly hard… Go Team Avi, Team Alt and Team PHH (Penina’s Helping Hand)! Thank you to our Toronto Team Captains:  Michael Benarroch, Judy Mernick and Eli Leibowitz for all your support, hard work, and helping our newbie runners.

Team Lifeline is one of Chai Lifeline Canada’s biggest fundraisers. Funds raised by each runner directly support many of the Chai Lifeline Programs we run in Toronto such as Shining Stars, Big Brother/Big Sister volunteer outings and Camp Lifeline. I want to personally thank of all our runners for going that extra mile and distance working incredibly hard to be the difference in the life of a sick child.

Team Lifeline isn’t just a marathon, it’s so much more. It’s one of the most inspiring and uplifting weekends that will change your life. Whether it’s listening to a Chai Lifeline family speak and share their personal journey, running over the Miami Causeway and watching the cruise ships at sunrise, or standing on the dining room chairs and cheering with over 1,000 people at the pasta party, the energy over the weekend is off the chart!

Looking forward to cheering you on, Miriam
