Hi everyone! I am really excited to be writing my first blog! Although I have written numerous nutrition articles for various publications over the past few years, to be writing on behalf of Chai Lifeline and Team Lifeline Canada is amazing.
As a working woman, wife and mom of four, managing a home and a busy nutrition practice is challenging but fulfilling. Seeing clients succeed and make positive changes in their lives feels great. But being involved with Chai Lifeline has taken that feeling to the next level. I am very thankful and blessed that my family and I are fortunate to be part of a tremendous organization that does such amazing work. The staff here give 110% of their time and efforts and are all truly wonderful individuals.
I still remember when Rabbi Rothman approached me 4 years ago at a frozen yogurt shop and asked me to be involved with Team Lifeline. As a dietitian, I try to lead a healthy lifestyle. Having run the 1/2 marathon with Team Lifeline myself, I said, “sure” not knowing exactly what that would look like. I am proud to say that with my role as Team Lifeline Canada Program Manager I have helped recruit and coach over 100 runners/walker/cyclists each year to raise money and “go the distance” for Chai Lifeline Canada.
So far this year Team Lifeline has raised over $1.8 million dollars to help children attend Camp Simcha as well as receive other Chai Lifeline Programs & Services.
This year at Team Lifeline it is especially meaningful to me. My husband, Eli, my mother-in-law, Gitta, and my daughter, Aviva will all be running/walking the 1/2 marathon with Team Lifeline this January in Miami. They are running in memory of my father-in-law, Alter Leibowitz A”H, who passed away suddenly this year suddenly from cancer, at the young age of 65. “Team Alt” is the first ever 3 generation Team Lifeline Team! To date, Team Alt has raised over $61,000 for Chai Lifeline Canada.
Anyone can walk, run, or ride with Team Lifeline. We give you the tools and support you need to help you reach the finish line.
